Graduate Mentor Program
The Division of Diversity Academic Support has a graduate mentoring program for underrepresented population students (students with disabilities, first generation college and graduate students, etc.) at Oklahoma State University. This is intended to be a collaborate effort with students, Alumni, the Graduate College, OSU Career Services, and other relevant campus organizations.
Goals
To enhance underrepresented students' academic and professional development
To promote high achievement and leadership skills
To assist students with their academic and professional skills
To enhance the recruitment, retention, and graduation of underrepresented students
Objectives
Utilize faculty expertise for the professional and personal development of underrepresented graduate students
Help match students with mentors
Organize seminars on diverse topics like thesis and dissertation writing, research, assistantship opportunities, housing, time management (financing graduate studies), plan of study, committee setting, professional memberships, non-academic mentorship programs, and being competitive in your field
Provide and disseminate information through seminars and email newsletters
To develop a mentoring program of graduate - undergraduate students
